7 Signs of a Heart Attack in Men

Heart attack signals can vary significantly among men and women. This Part 2 article looks specifically at identifying signs of heart attacks in men. The previous post 7 signs of heart attack in women focused more on female-specific indicators and as you’ll see below the signs can vary significantly.

Hollywood Heart

The most obvious sign is like the photo above, someone with severe chest pain grasping his chest. This sudden onset of pain, known as the “Hollywood Heart” (like in the movies), is often preceded by more mild pain or discomfort.

Heart Attack Warning Signs in Men

There are many other less obvious signs of a heart attack including:

1. Stomach Trouble – This includes nausea, vomiting, and other stomach issues.
2. Bedroom Woes – Like ED; if your blood vessels “down below” are damaged, it’s very likely the ones near your heart could be too.
3. Excessive Snoring – A sign of sleep apnea but if left untreated can lead to a higher risk of a heart attack.
4. Chest Pressure – A feeling of fullness or squeezing, could be mistaken for heartburn.
5. Pain in Other Places – Usually there is pain above the waist as blood supply becomes limited. Areas to note are stomach, shoulders, one or both arms, jaw, and teeth.
6. You Can’t Walk it Off – When there’s excessive pain or burning in the legs from walking this could be a sign of peripheral artery disease. If it’s happening in your legs, it could be happening in arteries in your heart.
7. Sense of Impending Doom, Acute Anxiety, Feeling Fatigued, Shortness of Breath or Heart Palpitations. These symptoms are common in women but men can have it too.
